Gays for Trump Exists…. Want to Find out how?
Every day the liberal LGBT gives me the same reaction, a disbelief that a gay conservative exists, yet alone a Gay man that voted for Trump. My answer has always been “yes we do exist” but one day I decided to put some facts behind that statement.
Doing a search in Google was my first lead, “how many LGBT people voted for Trump?” This led my research to three major sources that all quoted a CNN poll that used the question “are you gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender?” and then referenced in a NY Times article.
Their claim is that 14% of the LGBT voted for Trump, also in that same article it’s indicated that Romney received 48% of the LGBT vote compared to Trump’s 14% although no proof nor evidence was provided, thus “Fake news.” https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/11/08/us/politics/election-exit-polls.html
These Sources include an article by LOGO, LGBTQ NATION, and Pink News UK. For example: “The news comes from the New York Times, which published the results of a national exit poll of 24,537 voters from 350 voting places across the US.” http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2016/11/09/just-14-percent-of-lgbt-people-voted-for-donald-trump-exit-poll-reveals/
One must point out these statistics are all gathered and reported by very liberal based LGBT media sources that quote data from one small exit poll of only 24,537 hardly a great indication on the real cross section of the American Voter.
In contrast doing another Google search uncovered a 2012 poll conducted for HRC by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research https://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/press/lgbt-voters-prove-ultra-crucial-to-obamas-re-election/
One will now notice that Romney received 23% of the vote not 48% as the in the incorrect misleading statement by the NY Times. Notice how the percentages somehow go up with previous elections?
At this point research had just begun as all this data is only one piece of the equation and solution to “how many LGBT voted for Trump in the last election.” I still had to fill in some of the blanks, for example one could have taken the 14% quoted for Trump and averaged it with the 48% and received a median of 31% which would have matched the 2010 data exactly. But to be more scientifically accurate if you take the low 14% for Trump, 23% for Romney, and the 27% for McCain one should average those numbers to gain a more conscientious number. With that we get 21.3% of LGBT that voted for a Republican Candidate, which is not exact science but a much more scientifically accurate number.
Again, statistics are sometimes educated guesses from what studies could be found; in this case 21.3% does fit more with the 20%-25% figure that multiple MSM outlets have quoted in the past. At this point the equation was half way to the complete data needed to setup the final equation. In order to get there first “How Many LGBT are there in the USA?” needed to be answered. Since census data fails to capture that complete answer the best data was found with one independent study. There is an article that states there are 10 Million identified LGBT in the US.
“Using Gallup data taken from interviews with over 1.6 million adults, demographer Gary J. Gates reported that 10 million Americans—4 percent of the population—now identify as LGBT.” http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2017/01/14/just-how-many-lgbt-americans-are-there.html
With that only one last piece of the puzzle was left, “just how many of these 10 million actually voted?” “According to the United States Election Project, an average of 59.7 percent of eligible voters cast their ballots.” https://www.dailydot.com/layer8/voter-turnout-2016/
Now we can do the equation: if 59.7% of eligible voters cast their ballots and 21.3% voted for Trump that means.
5.97 Million / 21.3% = 1,271,610 LGBT Voted for Trump and even if we go with the 14% percentage we still conclude 5.97 Million / 14% = 835,800 Voted for Trump.
So the next time a Liberal LGBT denies the existence of Gays for Trump, you can proudly look at them and state Gays For Trump exists and a potential 1-2 million voted for President Donald Trump.
