Medical Groups Ask DOJ to Investigate Critics of Hospitals’ Gender Surgeries on Children

Three top medical groups have called on the Justice Department to investigate and prosecute activists and journalists who report on hospitals that perform irreversible gender surgeries on children.

The American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, and Children’s Hospital Association asked Attorney General Merrick Garland to launch an investigation.

The American Medical Association is asking the Biden Department of Justice [DOJ] to “investigate and prosecute” parents and journalists who raise concerns over radical gender surgeries for minors.

The American Medical Association (AMA), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) asked Attorney General Merrick Garland to launch an investigation in a letter saying the backlash against children’s hospitals that perform gender surgeries amounted to “attacks.”

This letter was sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland, asking him to:

“investigate the organizations, individuals, and entities coordinating, provoking, and carrying out bomb threats and threats of personal violence against children’s hospitals and physicians across the U.S.”

…ok. Obviously, nobody wants bomb threats on children’s hospitals. And although this letter does not cite any specific incidents, my guess is it’s referring to a recent fake bomb threat made by a Massachusetts woman. But for the sake of this discussion, we will take the letter at its word and assume there are more of these threats happening across the country.

The real problem with the letter comes two paragraphs later:

“The attacks are rooted in an intentional campaign of disinformation, where a few high-profile users on social media share false and misleading information targeting individual physicians and hospitals, resulting in a rapid escalation of threats, harassment, and disruption of care across multiple jurisdictions. Our organizations have called on technology companies to do more to prevent this practice on digital platforms, and we now urge your office to take swift action to investigate and prosecute all organizations, individuals, and entities responsible.”

Big picture: This letter isn’t about threats of violence. It uses the alleged threats of violence as a pretext to ask the DOJ to “investigate and prosecute” you.

The groups urged the Department of Justice to “investigate” and “prosecute” anyone responsible for spreading “disinformation” about gender programs.

“We now urge your office to take swift action to investigate and prosecute all organizations, individuals, and entities responsible,” they wrote.

In the letter, the medical groups also called on tech companies, including Twitter, TikTok, and Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, to censor what they called “disinformation.”

“[We] ask the platforms to take bolder action when false information is shared about specific institutions and physicians” and “do more to prevent coordinated campaigns of disinformation,” the organizations wrote.

They want to silence anyone who speaks up about the physical and psychological damage being done to children who receive gender reassignment procedures.

One of the hospitals in question is Boston Children’s, which became infamous – https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/252042/doctor-says-boston-gender-clinic-mutilates-and-sterilizes-children – on social media earlier this summer when activists Libs of TikTok and Chris Elston, also known as “Billboard Chris,” highlighted the hospital’s own videos and website promoting its “first of a kind” gender clinic for kids.

Elston pointed out that the hospitals were coming under fire for their own published content.

“All I do is write the simple but horrific truth about what these clinics are doing to kids,” Elston told CNA.

“I’ve shared content which children’s hospitals themselves produced and then tried to hide. It’s the words of their own doctors which cause the outrage.”

Back in August, Elston shared screenshots on Twitter of the Boston Children’s website, which said it offered double mastectomies for children as young as 15 and sterilizing genital surgeries for patients as young as 17.

After the hospital’s own videos describing these procedures went viral online, Boston Children’s removed https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/252078/boston-children-s-hospital-changes-website-denies-performing-genital-surgeries-on-17-year-olds-after-backlash – the reference to 17-year-olds and updated its website – https://www.childrenshospital.org/programs/center-gender-surgery-program/eligibility-surgery – to say patients must be 18 years of age to qualify.

The hospital also deleted its entire YouTube playlist – https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNdnrJ0WHYVaziwFvcHuqgIupMhNa7fKE – of at least 40 videos featuring surgeons describing the procedures.

Elston says he has already experienced the effects of censorship by social media.

“Twitter is already censoring me, requiring people to enter a birthdate before viewing my account, and flagging all media as ‘sensitive content.’ They’ve also made my account unsearchable,” he said.

But Elston and other activists fighting against gender transitions for children are not deterred.

“Trying to silence us only amplifies our voices,” he said. “If the AMA and AAP want the outrage over gender clinics to cease, there is only one solution: Stop transitioning kids.”

Rufo took to Twitter, saying: “If gender-affirming care is so good, the activists and doctors who promote it — and profit from it — should defend their practices in the realm of public opinion.”

Former transgender teen Chloe Cole replied, “‘Gender-affirming care is so great that we need to violate 1A rights to convince people of how great it is!!!”

When Catholic National Register reached out for comment, the AMA referred to a joint press release put out by the three organizations in lieu of a comment.

AMA president Dr. Jack Resneck said in the release, “We condemn groups that promote hate-motivated intolerance and toxic misinformation that can lead to grave real-world violence and extremism and jeopardize patients’ health outcomes.”

“The AMA will continue to work with federal, state, and local law enforcement officials to develop and implement strategies that protect hardworking, law-abiding physicians and other health care workers from senseless acts of violence, abuse, and intimidation,” he added.

Remember:

This follows the same playbook from August of 2021 when parents started showing up at school board meetings to oppose school’s out-of-control covid policies [like mandatory masking and vaccines] and radical gender theory being taught to their children.

In response, the National School Boards Association sent a letter to the same Biden DOJ headed by the same Attorney General Merrick Garland, suggesting that “threats and acts of violence” at school board meetings might be “domestic terrorism.”

Days after that letter, AG Garland directed the FBI and U.S. Attorneys to intervene in what he called a “disturbing spike in harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence.”

… We’ll see if Garland follows the same playbook with the AMA letter.

Editors note: Take Note, I do not care if a child wants to figure themselves out and express differences in the gender norm, but I do not want this pushed on children beyond age-appropriate materials that might help the child. But, I draw a BIG LINE in the sand where I am against puberty blockers and surgeries on children. Above ALL we are for protecting children, even if those children might be considered “trans children” but one question is WHY THE RUSH? if that child is “Transitioning” why not offer counseling and time for puberty to kick in and that child to mature and develop and then determine as they get older what exactly they wish for themselves at a later post-puberty stage in their life?!

Another note is religion does not need nor does it need to play a part in the protection of children from “gender surgeries” and “puberty blockers” in fact religious organizations tend to make the fight against these procedures harder. Religion or not more people know that a child should be able to be happy, protected, as well as allowed to express themselves as they grow without the fear of violence or hate. I for one am thankful that there are groups like GaysForTrump and Gays Against Groomers that are full of sensible LGBTs that know this.
