Biden’s First One Hundred Days, How Did We Survive?

Joe Biden has crossed the 100-day mark of his presidency, an arbitrary benchmark on the calendar, but a decades-old standard used to judge presidents.  The beginnings of this start with Franklin D. Roosevelt, the last commander and chief whose first three months in office were truly momentous. 100 days have become a point of measurement that journalists are fond of because they tend to draw comparisons between that current officeholder and FDR.

Although, in recent times, the 100 days marker has also been taken very seriously by presidents which include Donald Trump and Joe Biden. As modern-day Presidents feel compelled to stack up some points on the first 100-day scoreboard to show that they’re leaders of action, and to set the agenda of what kind of leader they’re going to be.

Currently, the spotlight has been on Biden’s first 100 days since he was sworn in. Biden vowed to use that time to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic and reverse many policies of former President Donald Trump. These policies have sadly backfired especially when it comes to the security of the border and the migrant crisisEven worse is that by a 31-point margin, voters say border security is worse than it was two years ago, a 56 percent majority thinks Biden winning the election is completely or mostly behind the increase of migrants at the U.S. southern border, and 67 percent are extremely or very concerned about illegal immigration.

Meanwhile, energy costs i.e., Gas Prices have soared since Biden stopped the XL Pipeline, and our nation’s diplomacy throughout the world has suffered.

This has led to a few polls indicating that Joe Biden and his first 100 days are not doing so well, a reflection on a nation still suffering from the knockout punch of the Coronavirus.

A Fox News poll finds a 54 percent majority of voters approve of Joe Biden’s job performance. That’s lower than Barack Obama’s 62 percent and George W. Bush’s 63 percent approval at their respective 100-day points, but higher than the 45 percent Donald Trump received four years ago. Meanwhilean ABC News/Washington Post poll finds that 52% of Americans approve of Biden’s work in the office, lower than any president at 100 days in office since 1945, save Gerald Ford in 1974 (48%, after his unpopular pardon of Richard Nixon) and Donald Trump at 42% in 2017. For the 14 presidents from Truman to Biden, the 100-day average is 66%.

One can say that these polls do reflect the Intense partisanship of this nation which is what gave Donald Trump a low rating yet his actual effectiveness in his first 100 days was even mentioned by the press on how much he was able to accomplish in such a short span. The intensified partisanship of recent years is a factor in Biden’s overall rating. Just 13% of Republicans approve of his work in the office, exactly matching Democrats’ approval of Trump at 100 days. Obama instead had 36% approval from Republicans in April 2009, and George W. Bush had 39% approval from Democrats at his 100-day mark.

Joe Biden is hurting from extreme partisanship as shown in his low job approval rating — the third-lowest for any president at 100 days in office since Harry Truman — along with continued economic dislocation, pandemic impacts, and questions about Biden’s view of the size and role of government.

One would ask can Joe Biden turn it around? Can he learn from his mistakes in his first 100 days? Is he willing to reverse some of his decisions that were only made due to the “Orange Man Bad” Trump Derangement Syndrome that the left tends to suffer from? Only time will tell.

Republicans asked this question of the Democrats while Trump was in office, “Why would you wish for the pilot of the plane to be harmed knowing that the whole aircraft could be lost?” We would remind the Republicans of today who equally dislike Biden as much as the Democrats hated Trump, that we must pray that the leader of the United States is given the wisdom to do right for us all.

Sadly, our recommendation is we suggest you buckle your seatbelts because as history has shown us it seems like we are all going to be riding in turbulence for the rest of the Biden Harris Administration.
